A Love Story That Began in a Pandemic

Gen and Nik’s engagement session at Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond in Boston was nothing short of magical. These locations hold special meaning for them as they were the backdrop to their first dates, making it the perfect setting for capturing their love story.

Gen and Nik met in January of 2021, right in the midst of the pandemic. Their early dates were spent taking long walks around the Arboretum and Pond, often with masks on. Nik likes to joke that he didn’t even see Gen’s full face until their third date! The pandemic may have forced them to decide to be exclusive quickly, but it clearly worked out perfectly — just look at where they are now!

When Nik proposed, he did it in the most down-to-earth and personal way possible. After a long St. Patrick’s Day, he surprised Gen by hiding the ring on a breakfast sandwich in their kitchen. It was such a sweet and intimate moment, just like the two of them.

A Fun-Filled Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond Engagement Session

For their engagement session, we returned to Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond, the same spots where they had their first dates. We spent the day walking around, laughing, and soaking up the sunshine. Oh, and we may have indulged in some cake, too! It was clear from the start that Gen and Nik were not only in love, but also best friends who truly enjoy each other’s company.

Planning the Perfect Day

One of the things I do with all my couples is have them fill out a questionnaire to help with their wedding day timeline and photo list. When I saw that Gen and Nik had included a photo with me on their formal photo list, I was so touched! It’s just one example of how thoughtful and kind they are.

Gen and Nik are the kind of people you can’t help but want to be around. They’re fun, loving, and have such good hearts, and man can they dance! I even joked with them that they need to give my husband some dance lessons after watching them light up the dance floor at Cate and David’s wedding!
