There’s something magical about photographing Massachusetts fall and holiday family portraits as the seasons shift here in in New England. They are always filled with everything I love most: golden leaves, cozy layers, crisp air, and so many warm smiles.
For our mini sessions, families have two beautiful location options. At my home in central Massachusetts, we utilize the natural charm of the backyard. Perfect for fall vibes with woodsy paths, wooden fencing, stone walls, and even a field that glows in afternoon light. For those who love a mix of rustic and festive, the Mistletoe Christmas Tree Farm offers the best of both worlds. It has areas with vibrant fall foliage and golden light that feels pure autumn, plus the option to also use the barn or surrounding evergreens for a touch of seasonal charm.
By late October and early November, the tree farm transforms into the perfect backdrop for holiday portraits. While there’s no snow, the deep green pines, rustic old barn, and festive red sleigh make it feel perfectly seasonal. We often find a stack of log piles in the open field for a cozy, wintry touch too. These holiday minis are always a favorite for families looking to capture the perfect photo for their Christmas cards.
Whether we’re chasing fall colors or leaning into the magic of the holidays, my goal as a family portrait photographer is to create an experience that feels relaxed, fun, and true to your family. From little candid giggles to quiet, tender moments, these sessions are all about connection, Both with each other, and with the beauty of New England!
