Kelly and Jeff’s wedding in the Terrace Ballroom at Danversport in Danvers, MA was one of those days you don’t forget — peaceful, joyful, and full of meaning. These two are the kind of couple who soak in every moment. From their sweet first look to the final song on the dance floor, they were fully present and simply so excited to be married.
The entire celebration was elegant, relaxed, and full of genuine joy. The ceremony overlooked the water, and the cocktail hour took place in the Waterfront Room. The couple’s reception was hosted in the stunning Terrace Ballroom at Danversport.
Kelly and Jeff exchanged vows on the waterfront lawn at Danversport. They had a gorgeous view of the harbor behind them while family and friends gathered to witness the moment.
Fun fact — it was one of the quickest wedding ceremonies I’ve ever seen, and it was exactly what they wanted. They shared private vows earlier in the day and kept the public ceremony short and sweet. They’re not ones for the spotlight — and the simplicity made it feel even more meaningful.
The weather was perfect — that kind of just right late September day with a soft breeze, a warm sun, and a hint of fall in the air. Golden light began to peek through just as the ceremony began, adding a natural glow to the setting.
One of the most personal and touching details? Both Kelly and Jeff had their brothers standing beside them — Jeff’s as Best Man, and Kelly’s as her Man of Honor. Their closeness was evident all day. Having their brothers in such special roles added a deeply heartfelt layer to the ceremony.
Kelly and Jeff chose to do a first look before their ceremony. It was absolutely the right decision for them and their day. Not only did it give them a quiet moment together, it gave us time to capture a full set of portraits before guests arrived. This allowed them to fully enjoy their cocktail hour later on.
We began their first look and family photos right at the ceremony site. Then headed down to the docks at Danversport for a relaxed couples portrait session. We finished with 20 full minutes to spare! So they used this time to relax and hang out with their wedding party before being tucked away.
After the ceremony, we took a few quick portraits in a gorgeous patch of light beaming through the windows of the Terrace Ballroom. As a photographer, I was in heaven! And I’m so glad they were game to grab a few photos before joining their guests.
Later that evening, we stepped outside for sunset photos overlooking the harbor, just as the light softened and shimmered over the water. And before the night ended, we snuck out for one last moment. A romantic night photo on the patio of the Terrace Ballroom is always a good choice.
All of this was possible because of how thoughtfully we planned their timeline. We captured photos in quick, intentional pockets of time while guests were transitioning between spaces. This meant they never felt like they were missing out. They were fully present for every part of the celebration. It’s a perfect example of how a great timeline allows you to actually enjoy your wedding day while still getting beautiful, varied photos.
Their reception in the Terrace Ballroom at Danversport was beautifully styled with soft candlelight, elegant neutral tones, and florals in white, sage green, and just a hint of soft pink. The space was warm and welcoming, I loved how the walls from their cocktail hour space opened fully up to their reception ballroom making for an easy flow for moving from cocktail hour and the reception, and leaving more space for dinner and dancing.
Guests enjoyed cocktails by the water, heartfelt speeches, and a dance floor that filled the moment the music started. It was the kind of reception where everyone felt at home — dancing, laughing, and celebrating two of the kindest people you could ever meet
Kelly and Jeff first met through mutual friends in Boston — only to discover they actually worked for the same company. The very next day, they ran into each other in the elevator at work. From there, lunches turned into dinners, and something about it all just clicked.
Their proposal story is just as perfectly chaotic in the best way. Jeff had planned to propose at the top of their favorite hiking trail, where their brothers were waiting to take surprise photos. But in true real-life fashion, Kelly took a detour on the trail (unaware of what was happening) and Jeff had to silently panic until they eventually made it to the overlook in Melrose where he popped the question. She said yes, and they celebrated with both families and a surprise engagement party that night.
Kelly and Jeff are thoughtful, low-key, and deeply connected — the kind of couple who loves cozy nights on the couch with their dog just as much as they love a great concert or a good hike.
They’re proud dog parents to Sonny, their wheaten terrier who’s always ready for a hug or a squirrel chase. They spend time hiking, baking, watching sci-fi, playing video games, and hanging out with their close-knit circle of mutual friends. On their wedding day at the Terrace Ballroom at Danversport, they leaned into the joy, let go of distractions, and truly embraced the moment. As I say, exactly as it should be!
This gorgeous couple was referred to me by the amazing Amanda & Matt (whose Cape Cod wedding day you can see here). Referrals like this mean the world — and from our very first chat, I knew this was going to be a day filled with heart.
Kelly & Jeff — thank you for inviting me into your story. Your Terrace Ballroom at Danversport wedding was everything a wedding should be: full of laughter, love, and beautiful light. I’ll be smiling about this one for a long time.
