September 28, 2026

There was a time when having one professional headshot was enough. You booked a photographer, smiled at the camera, uploaded that beautiful new photo to your About page… and you were good to go.
But in 2026?
Your business needs SO much more than one pretty photo.
We’re showing up everywhere — websites, Instagram, Reels, Pinterest, blogs, newsletters, Google, launches, sales pages and more. And your potential clients aren’t just looking to see what you look like anymore. They want to know who you are, what you do, what makes you different, and most importantly — what it might feel like to work with you. That’s where intentional branding photography comes in.
Don’t get me wrong — we’re absolutely getting you that gorgeous headshot!
But a branding session is about creating an entire library of images that tells the story of your business.
Think:
The goal isn’t simply pretty pictures.
It’s images with a purpose.
AI is everywhere now. We can use it to write, brainstorm, design, organize and create faster than ever before.
But I think that’s also making something else even more important: Being human.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m hiring someone to do a job or buying from a small business, I want to know there’s a REAL person on the other side. And these days, it’s getting harder and harder to tell! Your branding photos give us the opportunity to show people exactly that. Your real personality, real workspace, your hands actually doing the work. Your process, your clients, all the little things that make your business YOURS.
Let’s make sure when someone lands on your website or Instagram, there’s no question that you’re real — and give them the chance to see that you might just be the perfect fit for them.
A headshot shows people your face. Branding photography shows them your personality and your business.

This is one of my favorite things about branding photography.
Let’s say you’re a hairstylist. Of course I want a gorgeous portrait of you. But I also want to photograph you curling hair, reaching for your tools, talking with your client, adding extensions, laughing together, and putting those finishing touches on the final look. Now your potential client isn’t simply reading that you’re a hairstylist.
They can start to imagine what it would feel like to sit in your chair. And this applies to almost any business. Show the process, the details, the experience. Show what makes YOUR way of doing it different!
One of the biggest things I want to know before your branding session is: What do you actually need these photos FOR?
We’re going to think beyond what you’re posting tomorrow. Are you launching a new service? Creating a course? Adding a product? Opening a studio? Starting a newsletter? Let’s photograph it NOW.
A perfect example is my recent branding session with Rachel of Swept Up Styles.
Rachel offers bridal and event hairstyling and also offers clip-in extension rentals for brides. Because we talked about that before her session, we intentionally photographed the extensions, Rachel working with them, and details she can use specifically when marketing that service.
Now when she wants to talk about extension rentals, she doesn’t have to scramble around thinking, “What photo am I going to use?” She already has it.
Your branding photos should support the business you’re building, not only the business you have today.

As business owners, we only have so much time — and creating content can become a HUGE time suck.
You sit down to post on Instagram… But first you need a picture. So you scroll through your camera roll, nothing works. You open Canva, and start making a graphic… Decide you hate the graphic. And suddenly an hour has gone by. A thoughtfully planned branding gallery gives you professional, on-brand images that are already ready to use.
Website? Got it. Instagram? Got it. Newsletter? Got it. New service? Got it. Blog post? Got it. Instead of constantly trying to figure out what image to use, you have a library of content to pull from. And anything that makes running a business a little easier gets a YES from me.
Do you still need a great headshot? YES!
But your headshot should be one piece of your visual brand — not the whole thing.
Your branding photos should show people: Who you are. What you do. How you do it. What makes you different. And what it might feel like to work with you.
That’s the difference between a headshot and a brand.

If you’re a Massachusetts business owner who is constantly recycling the same few photos, using a headshot from three years ago, or getting ready to launch something new without any images to go with it… it might be time.
Oh, and don’t worry – I help you every step of the way during your planning process. I even make a personalized prep guide for each one of my branding clients. My branding sessions are intentionally planned around your business, your goals, your personality, and where you’re going next.
Because in 2026, your business deserves more than one pretty headshot. It deserves imagery that tells the whole story.
