9 Things to do the night before photographing a wedding

Things For Photographers To Do The Night Before a wedding

If you’re a wedding photographer, you know that the night before the wedding day can be just as important as the day itself. Here are 9 things you should do the night before photographing a wedding day to ensure a smooth and successful wedding shoot.

Print Out the Wedding Day Timeline

Having a printed copy of the timeline can help you stay organized and prepared throughout the day. Make sure you have a few extra copies in case of emergencies.

Review Wedding Timeline

Reviewing the wedding day timeline the night before the wedding can help ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day, It will refresh your mind of everything that you planned with the couple and reduce the risk of unexpected surprises.

Charge ALL Batteries

Ensure all of your camera batteries, flash batteries, iwatch batteries, and any other extra batteries are fully charged. You don’t want to be caught without power in the middle of the day.

Reformat Memory Cards

Make sure you have plenty of memory cards for yourself and your second photographer (if you have one) and reformat them all to ensure they are clear and ready for use.

Google Map Directions

Figure out what time you need to leave to get to the wedding location on time, taking into account normal travel time, potential traffic, and any necessary pit stops.

Check the Weather

Checking the weather is an important habit to develop, as it can help you plan for the wedding day accordingly and will let you know if you need to start putting the rain plan in to action. I recommend that you start checking on the weather a couple days to a week in advice of the big day.

Show Up On Social

Post a story to your Instagram talking about the wedding tomorrow. Maybe post a photo of them from their engagement session or reel of you packing your bag.

Check in

Check in with your 2nd photographer and see if they need anything from you. You should have already provided them the timeline and photo list before hand – but a final check in never hurts!

Rest Up

Eat a good dinner and go to bed early. Get a good night’s rest and fuel up with a nutritious meal so that you can be energized and ready to capture all the special moments of the big day.
